UP Journal is operated by its founder, a natural person established in Romania ("we", "us", "our"). Payments for paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), our Merchant of Record. Paddle acts as reseller of record for the subscription: it collects the payment, handles VAT/sales tax and issues the invoice. Your banking statement will show a Paddle charge. This policy explains when a payment can be reversed. We keep it short and honest.
We do not offer voluntary or "change of mind" refunds beyond what the law requires. The Pro plan comes with a 14-day free trial — you can evaluate the full product before paying, nothing is charged during the trial, and you can cancel from your account at any moment during it. The paid features are described in detail on the pricing page before checkout.
If you are a consumer in the European Union — including Romania — the law gives you 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase without giving a reason, counted from the day of the purchase (EU Directive 2011/83/EU, implemented in Romania by Emergency Ordinance No. 34/2014).
For digital services that start immediately, the standard mechanism is a waiver: at checkout, before payment, you are asked to give express consent to immediate performance and to acknowledge that, once performance starts, you lose the right of withdrawal. If you do NOT tick that consent, you keep the full 14-day withdrawal right and we (via Paddle) refund the payment in that window.
To exercise withdrawal, contact us through the support section inside the application (or Paddle buyer support using the details on your receipt) within 14 days of the purchase. The refund is issued by Paddle to the original payment method.
Subscription renewals (each new monthly or annual period) are new performance periods. If you were charged for a renewal you did not want, contact us as soon as possible: we will stop the subscription immediately, and the treatment of the renewal charge follows the rules above (statutory rights always apply).
Duplicate or clearly erroneous charges are reversed in full — contact us and we will sort it out with Paddle.
You can cancel anytime; the subscription stays active until the end of the paid period and simply does not renew. This is the normal way to stop paying — it does not retroactively refund periods already served.
You can reach us at [email protected] or through the support section inside the UP Journal application (available after signing in). Questions about a payment, invoice or refund can also be raised with Paddle buyer support — the details are included in every Paddle receipt.
